Description
Presented for the collector of vintage airline wings is this fine specimen of the 1st Issue American Airlines "Lead" Wing. This wing is in untouched, uncleaned, as-found condition. Stan's site classifies this as a 1st Issue piece but does not specify what duty position this one was for. Agent? Purser? Steward? Your guess is as good as mine. This wing measures 2 3/4 inches in width and 1 3/16 inches in height. It is die-struck in bronze with enamel highlights of the AA logo and the "Lead" bar. The enamel and gilding are in perfect order with very little noticeable wear. The reverse features a hinged pin and roller catch that are straight and perfectly functional. This fine wing would complement any collection of vintage airline wings or a specific assemblage focused on one of our storied carriers American Airlines. Fine aviation material from Brother Rabbit's hutch!
